Alright, this ones definitely for those who have actually played Chrono Trigger. If you haven’t, the last panel is a flashback to when young Magus (known as Janus back then) met up with Ozzie, the leader of the Mystics. That is before Magus took command of the Mystics and used them to achieve his goals. Do you see a pattern developing?

I'm playing Cronho trigger but I didn't reach that part of the game.

Regardless of the flash back Magus STILL doesn't really come across as evil, just obsessed with getting his sister back, much like his obsession with revenge against Lavos in the game n.n

I still have a few more revelations to make yet, but hopefully they should be a little easier to understand even for those of you who haven’t played Chrono Trigger or Chrono Cross. With that in mind, I feel I should mention that I write these comics for fans of the games. And while I realize that there are many Chrono Trigger fans, and many Metroid fans, and Sonic or Mega Man fans, I also realize that fans of all four series may be a little fewer. This comic is mostly influenced by Chrono Trigger, and if you haven’t played the game, I highly recommend playing it. It’s a fantastic game and well worth the time and effort, but if you’re really not interested, I do recommend hitting up Wikipedia and looking up Magus and Schala. I’m not saying that will give you all the info, but it’ll at least start you in the right direction.

As for Magus’s evil, I admit that his goals don’t seem all that evil (yet), but I certainly do think that his means to achieve them are. He’s allied himself with a species that wants to wipe out all life on the planet and use it as their home base for galactic conquest. He’s murdered countless innocents just to appeal to their ruthless nature. And he’s even slaughtered the father of one of the people who’s probably the closest thing to a friend that he could ever hope to have. Not to mention that he’s using the remains of Marle’s father against her. This is just for starters, he’s not even done yet.

Yeah the way he's doing it is horribly wrong, but Magus isn't actually evil, if he were evil he'd have killed crono and the others at the end of the game. He's just seriously misguided, he was still a small child when Ozzie took him in. Think about that for a second, Ozzie raised magus for a good portion of his life, Ozzie the selfish, cowardly manipulator raised Magus. Would it be at all surprising if he turned out even remotely like Ozzie?

No.

XD I think that might have been a rhetorical question... You didnt really have to awnser it.

So?

I am acturly a fan of all the series Ryan mentioned. Most fans can agree Magus isn't evil. However since he was taken from his home at a young age and raised by Ozzie and that he has a lack of morals. Which is both a good thing and a bad thing. He can do something for the greater good (which is part of his aim, return to his sister AND stop Lavos)... but it would mean doing something no 'hero' would EVER be willing to do. Besides, Magus is nothing like Ozzie... from the game it seems like he was planning on using Ozzie for at least a large number of years.
But in the end, it's Ryans comic. Let him use the characters as he see's fit and give us a story we can all enjoy. ','

I enjoy the story... but this Chrono Trigger mechanics stuff is a bit confusing to me.

I actually find the Magus’s Good Vs. Evil debate rather stimulating, creative wise. I just really cant participate all that well since most of my best arguments would give away future comics. Maybe when “The Revelations” story is over...

I look forward to it

This IS dejavu for Magus. However, BIG diff with this situation: Ozzie never had anyone that outranked him before Magus came along...
