At this point, they've finally reached the high point in there relationship. There is no way that Nack can pretend to betray them again, so therefore the only logical next step is for him to finally pull the final absolute, utter betrayal. After all, it was going to happen eventually.
Son of a Fu**in Bi**h!!!!!!!!!!
...had to be said.
What the? Come on Crono! You can't even dodge a bullet? What kind of protagonist are you?
I repeat my question from a few comics ago. Does Nack's gun fire bullets or lasers? A bullet wouldn't be able to pierce the armour of an SA-X, but a laser wouldn't make a BLAM sound. I am confused!
@PS: Of COURSE it fire's bullets! It's a freaking revolver, for cryin' out loud! And if it was a laser, there is no way in hell it could've delivered Samus' DNA to those Core Xs, since the blood would've sublimated and the wound itself would've been cauterized, hence no blood spray. not to mention there would've been a distinctive beam of light emitting from the barrel of Nack's gun when it fired.
If you're talking about his sniper rifle, then the reason there were those two grey lines was probably to indicate that the SA-X had been hit, and where. Also, I doubt Crono's really dead. Judging by the blood spray, it looks more like he was shot in the shoulder. Of course, I could be wrong...
But, then again, this'll be a relatively short comic if Samus dies, and it'll absolutely suck if Crono dies, too. Of course, if Samus DOES die, then Ryan might pull the old "It was all a dream and now I know what NOT to do, like team up with Nack." And if he does, then I would just like to say beforehand that he brought whatever horrible punishment that he incurs for using such a cliche method of continuing the comic.
Yeah, but, I think in an early Chrono Crossover, Nack was shown shooting lasers at the Space Pirates. So maybe, I don't know, he can switch firing modes.
From what I can gather I would assume that Nack is not intending to kill them, but wound them enough so that they can't follow, or he can turn them in, etc. I doubt he would save Crono just to kill him, that doesn't make any sense, and If there's one thing I know about Nack (which is actually very little) it's that he always has a reason for his actions, generally it's a pretty good reason, not morally speaking, but a good reason.
Nack does know that Sammy's the only one with the abilty to use that type of Chozo tech, not to mencan the only one who knows how it works/repair it, right?
Well, I guess it could be that he has a beam pistol as well, and just decided that this situation called for ballistic weaponry.
Nack already decided to let Samus live, can't say much for Chrono. But because of that it's very unlikely he'll kill Samus.
Also some may ask WHY kill Chrono when he just saved him? Well Nack Didn't save him. He had a line of fire between Samus and the X's and took it because that might have been his last chance for a shot to save himself. Odds are he let Samus live for the follow
4.His life (he may need her for barganing)
I'd find it hard to believe he'd go back on a decision he's made.
Everyone is forgetting three things regarding those comics:
1-Nack thinks Crono is a subberb fighter
2-X-parasites replicate whatever they touch
3-X-parasites reproduct asexually
That's all to say that he could have saved Crono from the X-Parasites to avoid having to battle an army of Cronos latter...
@Loki: That would be a rational theory if Nack hadn't just explicitly said he was backstabbing them right then.
Or, as Nack does seem to favor convoluted exploits, he may be appearing to betray them to the benefit of watchful eyes around them, the gun shots and blood are for absolute realism to withdraw any doubt that he is betraying them. So that he can trick the people or things watching him.
Who's watching him? Not even the slightest idea at this point.
But we do forget, that so long as Marle has the right power source, she can heal Crono and Samus, even from a life threatening wound. Also considering how far RyanMC wants to stretch the metaphor might even be able to bring them back from the dead. I doubt it will go that far, but who knows?
I'll bet Nack knows...
We're watching him.
