For the purposes of this comic, the Mother Brain is basically a powerful computer that despite having it’s own individualistic thoughts, it has no real sense of self. Therefore, it often refers to itself as merely being a member of the Space Pirates, which is why it almost always uses the term “we”. However, it is well aware of it’s function, and when a situation arises where it needs to refer to itself exclusively, it tends to use the term “this unit”. Just so no one thinks it has a multiple personality disorder or something.

Didn't some English royalty use the word "we" to refer to herself?

Normaly when talking on behalf of others, in the case of royalty, on behalf of their nation. Which they can't do so much anymore over here since most the power is with the Govournment now.

we is a way to say I, but with a meaning that I am more superior, thus more than a single I.

ok I may be reading this wrong but doesn't ridley still have the baby or is this induced memory not representing whats going on with the mother brain and ridley?

Core-X are singular entities therefore it should go "Ridley is here with a "core-X" not "an "X core"
